The leg agility and thrashing arms to rebalance on some of those cutbacks is outstanding. The Polaroid colours of the Film is way above any video recordings. The Doors like music with Fender keyboard is Transcendental. Those 'Hang Ten' shorts and T's are The Fashion. The whole Movie is a Time Machine back to my youth. A good memory. I still go back to Bali and no its not the same But you can still find good people, moments and waves. I'm here now haha. Come on over guys )

In 1969 I went to Oahu with my parents. We stayed at a hotel about 100 yards from Waikiki beach. Already learned to surf years earlier on a long board. Came back to Florida with a Hobie Leroy Ah Choy spear 6’x 16” wide, single fin. The surfers back in Florida had never seen anything like it. It was an awesome board and everyone wanted something like it. No leashes back then, you swam to get your board. Lol

Orange County, California Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, San Diego man those were the most awesome days if you weren’t surfing you were skating at the skate parks. Big wave skate park Big O skate park oh man van skate park later in the years that brings back some awesome memories.

No tattoos, no fat people, women were much more feminine and attractive.

Wonderful photographic record of the Cronulla I grew up in, first as a small child in Cornona Ave behind the Elephant House Church, and as a teenager training in from Jannali to the beach, the jaffle shop on the corner near the old cinema, the pinball arcade across the road, the disco at North Cronulla pub (hearing 'let's stick together' for the first time comes to mind). Catching the last train home, first kiss and broken heart. Your fabulous photographs brought it all back. What a great historical documentary you have made; whatever Cronulla has going for it now, the old Cronulla is gone, that's for sure.

I was 20, and on TOP of the world - college, fun protests, bars and bands...then some A-hole decided to start a war in Viet Nam (ala John Prine Some Humans Aint Human)...then it was the Navy. My parents said the best time to grow up was THEIR time in the 40s (then it was WWII). Seems like some in the good ol USA always tries to grow the economy on the backs of the young with a war.

Excellent classic surf movie..After Nam combat circa 67-68 as was ready to ride the wild surf. I bought an 8 ft. Yater at Pacific Beach surf shop...learned the hard way at Tourmaline, La Jolla, Ocean Beach. My first concert was Creedance, second was Jimi Hendrix at the Sports arena where I watched Ken Norton beat Ali..Those were the days.

I'm so lucky that my father was military, I learned to surf in San Onofre/San Clamente/Oceanside in the late 60s then my Father got orders to Hawaii late 60s and the early 70s ! I was in heaven. I cried (age 15) when he got orders to Japan but then cried again out of happiness when he got unaccompanied orders to Japan and my mom and I stayed in Hawaii a couple more years while he sacrificed himself to be alone so I didn't have to change schools to go Japan. I got to surf 2 more years in Hawaii, I loved and missed my dad but he said it was for best welfare to continue school in States. We finally left Hawaii when I was 18. I enlisted in the Navy traveled the world got final orders in Hawaii and retired out of the Navy in Hawaii... now live in Kauai with beautiful kauai girl. Life is Truly Good.

Just stopped in for a quick look. I met some guy Mike Minchinton last month on a Shuttle thru Costa Rica. Apparently he made boards for some Robert August guy for decades. Mike was such a Cool and nice guy, Just thought I'd say that just in case he watches this and reads the comments. Poor Guy was hungry so I split some of my pizza with him.
